What happens to an employee's time-off balance when they move to another team?

Nothing happens to the balance. HR assigns the policy to the employee, not to the team, so accruals continue and the history stays in the profile. The approvers change: when a policy names the group manager or the department's manager, the manager of the new group or department picks up the next request.

Can a policy require notice before time off?

Yes. A policy sets how long before the start date a request of that type has to be filed, and the system stops a later request from anyone without the right to request outside the rules. The same rule set covers the minimum and maximum length of a request, partial days and hours, and whether a note is mandatory.

What changes in HR when employees follow different public-holiday calendars?

Mostly the arithmetic. Each office in MayBee carries its own holiday calendar, and the system counts an employee's time off against the calendar of their office and their work schedule, so a local holiday marked as non-working inside a request does not cost a day of time off. HR does not correct anything by hand; the office calendar does the counting.

Can employees see their own balance and accrual history?

Yes. The profile shows the current balance for each time-off type, the history of accruals and manual adjustments, and the list of requests with their statuses, and the dashboard has a widget with the available balance. HR sees the same tabs for everyone within its rights and can adjust a balance by hand.

When should a company of our size build its own HRMS?

Almost never. We started because no product covered recruiting and HR together for us, built it to sell from 2022, and reached production in 2023. If the only user is your own HR team, configure an existing system. Build when HR is your product or a process you depend on cannot be configured elsewhere; for those cases our team also builds HRM systems for other companies .
