BIORA PARTNERED WITH MAYBEWORKS TO DEVELOP A SECURE, INTERNAL PLATFORM THAT EMPOWERS SCIENTISTS TO PERFORM COMPLEX BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH WITHOUT WRITING CODE. BUILT FOR NON-DEVELOPERS, THIS SYSTEM COMBINES AI-POWERED TOOLS, A ROBUST BACKEND, AND USER-FRIENDLY DESIGN TO SIMPLIFY BIOMEDICAL ANALYSIS.
Biora is a private biotech company working at the intersection of healthcare and data science. With a team of biomedical researchers and healthcare scientists, they needed an internal tool to streamline data analysis, eliminate reliance on external developers, and empower experts to conduct complex research using intuitive, no-code workflows.
Location: USA

Biora set out to develop an internal no-code research platform to empower biomedical teams with AI-driven tools for literature review and data analysis — without the need for programming expertise. To support this vision, they needed a robust backend partner to design secure architecture, manage large genomic datasets, and ensure smooth, scalable performance.
Build a scalable backend using Python and Django to manage AI pipelines and user workflows.
Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas for structured and unstructured biomedical data.
Integrate AI tools for literature review, file parsing, and Python code generation.
Ensure secure access and data isolation for internal teams.
How MaybeWorks organised the work:
After receiving the client's request, we scheduled a call to discuss the project's goals, and specific requirements. This allowed us to clarify key details, understand challenges, and align on expectations for the collaboration.
Using the collected information, we selected the best fit from our in-house team and managed the onboarding process ourselves.
The developer joined the project a week after the client contacted us, which allowed us to start work quickly and maintain the momentum of incremental growth.
Our outstaff manager monitored the developer's performance to ensure consistent results.
If necessary, and with the client's approval, our technical leaders were involved to solve complex problems.
We provided direct communication with the developer via Slack, while task tracking and scheduling were carried out in Jira.
